Ingham Play & Learn Groups

Summer Session: June–August 2026

No Registration Required for Summer Session

Join us this summer for fun, free outdoor playgroups. All summer playgroups will be held outdoors, so please bring sunscreen and water, dress for the weather, and get ready to play.

Groups will meet Monday through Thursday for two weeks in June, two weeks in July, and two weeks in August at four local parks. Families may attend any group that fits their schedule.

Who Can Join

Play and Learn Groups are for families with children from birth through age 5 living in one of the 12 Ingham ISD school districts: Dansville, East Lansing, Haslett, Holt, Lansing, Leslie, Mason, Okemos, Stockbridge, Waverly, Webberville, and Williamston.

Groups may be canceled due to weather, poor air quality, or staff illness.

About Ingham Play and Learn Groups

Families can enjoy free, hands-on sessions led by trained parent educators. Groups use the Parents as Teachers curriculum to support early learning and development through play and family interaction.

Activities may include:

  • Story time
  • Music and singing
  • Movement
  • Play dough
  • Creative art activities
  • Sensory table exploration
  • Peer interaction and social play

Sick Children

Please stay home if you or your child have tested positive for COVID-19, have been exposed to an illness, or show any symptoms within 24 hours before group

Symptoms may include:

  • Fever above 100°F
  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhea
  • An unidentified rash
  • Eye or nose discharge that is not clear

This helps keep all children, families, and staff safe.

Siblings Over Age 5

Playgroup activities and materials are designed for children from birth through kindergarten entry. We understand that older siblings may attend during the summer. To help keep materials, space, and activities available for younger children and their caregivers, we ask that older siblings play nearby rather than participate in playgroup activities.

Inclement Weather and Air Quality

Playgroups may be canceled due to bad weather or poor air quality. Groups will meet if the Air Quality Index (AQI) is 100 or below. If the AQI rises above 100, groups may be shortened, adjusted for lower activity levels, or canceled. Because no registration is required for summer playgroups, families should check our Facebook page for the latest updates and cancellation notices before attending.

Requirements for Participation

  • Groups are for children from birth through age 5.
  • Families must live within one of the twelve Ingham ISD school districts.
  • Adults must accompany children at all times.
  • Please do not attend if you or your child have been exposed to illness or are showing any symptoms of illness.

Groups meet for two weeks in June, two weeks in July and two weeks in August. Families are welcome to attend any group that fits their schedule.
